Recent reports from German media outlet Bild suggest that Manchester United are keen on signing Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman in the upcoming transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to add to his options in the winger’s department.
The report further states that the Red Devils are willing to meet Coman’s demands of a wage of £200,000 a week (after tax) in order to lure him to Old Trafford; however, with 24 months remaining on his present contract, Bayern are in no rush to cash in on the player.
Coman’s Amazing Season At The Allianz Arena
With 8 goals and 12 assists in thirty-six appearances across all competitions, Kingsley Coman enjoyed the most productive season of his career this term. Moreover, he has managed to put up some awe-inspiring numbers on the board – averaging 1.8 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.9 dribbles, 0.9 crosses and 1 long ball per 90 minutes in the German top-flight. Furthermore, with 25.5 passes played per game with a success rate of 84.9%, the Frenchman can drop deep to facilitate his side’s attacking gameplay.
It goes without saying that the 24-year-old winger has played an instrumental role in Bayern Munich’s charge to a ninth successive Bundesliga, and an average WhoScored rating of 7.11 only highlights how impressive his overall game has been this season.
The Right Choice For Solskjaer?
Earlier this week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer emphasized on the need to sign players if United want to compete for the Premier League title next season.
“We are looking at the squad, the players who are going to stay, those who might be leaving and I hope that we’re going to strengthen with a few.. two or three players that we definitely need to challenge higher up in the table.” – The Norwegian tactician stated.
“We’re still too far behind to think it is just going to come by itself.”
The wing is one of the many departments where the club needs to bring in some quality re-enforcements soon – and Coman fits the bill perfectly. At 24, he is likely to get better with each passing season and can be the ideal man to partner Marcus Rashford in the long term.
He might not be the most consistent player on the pitch, but his experience at the highest level will definitely help the Red Devils build a winning mentality. Hence, if the German side put a suitable price tag on the player, Solskjaer must try his best to get the deal over the line this summer.
