Manchester City locked horns with Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to pick up another three points on the road. The Mancunian giants made a dream start to the game as they scored in the second minute courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan’s header. However, Joao Cancelo was sent off just eight minutes later which made life difficult for Pep Guardiola’s men. Man City held on to their narrow advantage and went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
Phil Foden doubled his team’s lead in the 48th minute when he scored a brilliant solo goal. However, the home team got a goal back via Leandro Trossard’s effort soon after. Adam Webster finally scored the all-important equalizer for Brighton with an excellent header in the 72nd minute. Just four minutes later, Dan Burn completed the turnaround for Graham Potter’s side with a good goal from close range as Man City ended up losing the clash by a narrow 3-2 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player performed during the contest versus the Seagulls.
GK: Ederson – 6/10
The Brazilian keeper made some solid saves at the back but will be disappointed for conceding three goals tonight.
RB: Joao Cancelo – 4/10
Cancelo let his team down by getting sent off early in the game.
CB: John Stones – 6.5/10
The English centre-back did well to clear the danger when called into action. He was also strong in the air but lacked accuracy with his passing.
CB: Ruben Dias – 6.5/10
Dias won his fair share of aerial duels during the game and made several important clearances at the back. However, he still ended up conceding three goals in the second half.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 5/10
The Swedish talent cleared his lines when required but offered very little in the final third.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 6/10
Silva worked hard but failed to give a good account of himself in midfield. He only managed to create one good chance in the final third.
CM: Rodri – 6/10
The Spaniard tried his best to make life difficult for the Seagulls and protect his backline. However, he had a tough second half due to Man City’s numerical disadvantage.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 7.5/10
The German midfield ace was a constant menace for the Brighton defenders and kept his cool to give Man City the lead in the second minute with a good header. He got substituted early in the second half.

Mahrez had some lively moments in the game but didn’t do enough to himself a goal. However, he has got an assist to show for his efforts.
ST: Ferran Torres – 6/10
Torres played only 14 minutes before he had to be sacrificed because of Joao Cancelo’s sending off.
LW: Phil Foden – 8/10

CB: Eric Garcia – 6/10
He put his foot through the ball when needed but won’t be pleased after shipping in three goals in the second half.
