In a recent report, The Daily Star has revealed that Manchester City hold an advantage over others in pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane this summer. It is believed that the English superstar prefers a move to the Etihad Stadium with Man City showing interest in securing his signature in this off-season (via The Daily Star).
Kane’s Excellent Numbers At North London This Season
Kane is having another exceptional campaign in English football as he has put in several match-winning displays as the focal point of Spurs’ frontline. The 27-year-old has found the back of the net on 33 occasions and grabbed 17 assists in 49 matches for the North London club this term across all fronts.
The London-born marksman has also been an excellent contributor in the final third after he averaged 3.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game in the Premier League this season. However, he can improve his link-up play in the opposition half as he has completed just 70.2% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).
Kane is still under contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the summer of 2024, so Man City will have to make a big-money offer to stand a chance of convincing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy into doing business for him this summer.
Will The English Forward Be A Dream Option For Guardiola?
Kane is a moderately paced forward who can time his runs well to get in behind the opposition backline. He has a great first touch and can be a lethal finisher in front of the opponent’s goal. Plus, the English sensation is quite creative with his passing that helps him get his fair share of assists in the attacking third.
A natural goal-scorer like Kane will be a dream option for Man City to consider this summer as he will be the perfect replacement for Sergio Aguero who is set to leave the club at the end of this campaign. At 27, the Tottenham captain is currently playing at his peak, so he will undoubtedly help Man City maintain their stranglehold in both domestic and European football.
Kane would be an upgrade over Gabriel Jesus who has been somewhat inconsistent this season and could form a deadly attacking partnership with Kevin De Bruyne at the Etihad Stadium in the coming seasons. Therefore, the Mancunian giants should try everything they can to bring the 53-time England international to the northwest of England in the summer.
