In a recent report, Voetbal International has stated that Leicester City are holding a concrete interest in recruiting PSV Eindhoven youngster Noni Madueke. It is believed that the Foxes are hoping to acquire the services of the English wing wizard, who is estimated to be worth around €20m (via Voetbal International).
Madueke’s Recent Emergence At Eindhoven This Season
The 19-year-old is a PSV academy graduate and has done well to break out as a top performer at the Philips Stadion this season. Madueke has made 29 appearances for the Dutch outfit this term, finding the back of the net on nine occasions and providing eight assists on all fronts.
The London-born prospect has caught the eye by averaging 1.3 shots, 0.9 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per match in the Dutch Eredivisie and the UEFA Europa League. He has even taken care of the ball well when distributing it in the final third after completing 85.8% of his attempted passes in both those competitions this season (stats via whoscored).
Madueke is under contract with PSV until the summer of 2024. Therefore, Leicester City will have no choice but to match the Dutch club’s valuation of the talented winger this summer. However, the Foxes could have the lure of Champions League football next season to tempt the player to make a switch back to England.
Is Madueke A Prospect For The Future?
Madueke boasts a blistering pace that helps him make some penetrative runs out on the wide areas. He can often turn on the afterburners to get the better of his marker in the final third. Furthermore, the English whizkid has shown this season that he can create some meaningful openings for others around him and is also a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal. Madueke is a highly versatile attacker as he prefers to play on the right-wing but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or function as a centre-forward up top. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
Leicester could be an ideal destination for him as it will give the player a chance to work with a world-class man-manager like Brendan Rodgers. At 21, Madueka has the potential to become a prolific goal-scoring winger in English football, so there is no doubt that he will be a prospect to watch out for in the future.
The way the PSV wide player has been playing this season, the Foxes can expect him to add some healthy competition for Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Ayoze Perez and Marc Albrighton at the King Power Stadium next season.
