In a recent post on Instagram, ex-Premier League left-back Jose Enrique revealed that he hopes his former club Liverpool will move in for Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer. Enrique wrote,
“Hopefully, we can sign him it will be a great addition for our squad. What do you think? I will go more for a player like Haaland or Mbappe but he is a lot more affordable. What you think reds?”
Raphinha’s Excellent Form In English Football This Season
The Brazilian wide player has enjoyed an outstanding campaign at Elland Road as he has put in several productive displays for Marcelo Bielsa’s side over the past ten months. Raphinha has registered six goals and nine assists in 30 league appearances this season.
The 24-year-old has successfully influenced the game in both halves after he averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.9 clearances, 2.2 shots, 2.1 key passes and 1.9 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season. However, he needs to work on improving his accuracy when interchanging possession with his teammates in the opposition half based on his pass success rate of 72.3% in league football (stats via whoscored).
Will Raphinha Be The Right Choice For The Reds?
Raphinha boasts electric pace under his belt that allows him to get the better of the opposition in the final third. He is proficient at getting to the byline using his quickness and can whip in some inviting crosses into the opponent’s penalty area.
The Brazilian sensation has a great work ethic and would provide more defensive cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold down the right flank if Jurgen Klopp decides to listen to Enrique’s advice by moving in for him in the summer.
Plus, Raphinha is good enough to compete with the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota for a place in Liverpool’s starting XI in the coming seasons. At 24, the Leeds star is yet to enter his peak, so Klopp can expect to make the most out of his services if he can lure the player to Anfield during this summer transfer period.
The Brazilian wing wizard will add plenty of goals and creativity to the Merseyside club’s frontline which makes him a great choice for Klopp to consider in this off-season. Raphinha could also help the Reds get back to the top of English and European football if he can maintain his high standards at the northwest of England in the years to come.
