Everton entertained Sheffield United at Goodison Park earlier this evening as they looked to earn a positive result at home. The Toffees made a poor start to the game as they conceded the opening goal in the seventh minute when Daniel Jebbison scored on his debut for the Blades. Carlo Ancelotti’s men struggled to come up with a response and went into the half-time break one goal down on the scoreline.
The Merseyside outfit enjoyed more possession in the second half but struggled to finish off their chances in the final third. The clash ended with Everton suffering a lacklustre 1-0 defeat at home.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player performed during the game against the Blades.
GK: Jordan Pickford – 6/10
The English keeper made a couple of good saves during the game but will be disappointed after conceding a goal so early in the game.
CB: Mason Holgate – 5/10
He struggled to give a good account of himself in the first half and got replaced at half-time.
CB: Michael Keane – 7/10
Keane won the ball back a couple of times for his side and cleared the danger when required.
CB: Ben Godfrey – 7/10
The English centre-back made multiple important clearances during the game. He was a strong and commanding presence in the air as well.
RM: Seamus Coleman – 6/10
Coleman kept things solid at the back but offered very little in the attacking end of the field.
CM: Abdoulaye Doucoure – 6.5/10
The Frenchman got stuck in with some crunching tackles in midfield but failed to make an impact in the Blades half.
CM: Allan – 7/10
The Brazilian midfield ace managed to get a stranglehold in midfield and engineered a couple of decent chances in the final third. He also made two encouraging runs with the ball but it was still not enough for Everton to get anything out of this game.
LM: Lucas Digne – 7/10
Digne performed his defensive duties well and made two meaningful openings for his teammates up top.
CAM: James Rodriguez – 7/10
The Colombia international had a few bright moments in the game as he managed to orchestrate some inviting opportunities for others around him. However, there was no goal for him today.
ST: Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 6.5/10
Calvert-Lewin was not afraid to shoot but failed to find the cutting edge in front of the Sheffield United goal.
ST: Richarlison – 6/10
The Brazilian attacker was not ruthless enough in the final third. It was a frustrating day at the office for him.
Substitutes:
CM: Gylfi Sigurdsson – 6.5/10
The Icelandic international created a few decent openings but was not clinical enough in the final third.
CM: Andre Gomes – 6/10
He added some energy to Ancelotti’s midfield.
CAM: Bernard – 6/10
The Brazilian winger produced a nice cameo after coming off the bench.
