Foot Mercato has recently reported that Everton are eyeing a summer move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby this summer. It has been revealed that the Toffees are keeping tabs on the French youngster’s progress ahead of a potential move to bring him to Goodison Park at the end of this campaign (via Foot Mercato).
Diaby’s Excellent Numbers For Leverkusen This Season
Diaby is enjoying a fruitful season at the BayArena as he has produced a run of eye-catching performances on the left side of Peter Bosz’s attack. The Paris-born sensation has registered ten goals and 15 assists in 41 matches for the German outfit this term across various competitions.
The 21-year-old has been in a rich vein of form out on the wide areas based on his average 1.7 shots, 1.3 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per game in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Europa League this season. He has even been excellent when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 84.8% in both those competitions (stats via whoscored).
Diably has managed to be a key performer for his current employers but there are still some question marks over whether he would be able to maintain his high standards in the Premier League where he might struggle to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football week in week out.
What Will Diaby Bring To Merseyside?
Diaby boasts blistering pace in his locker and can make some well-timed runs down the flanks. He can get to the byline at will and has added plenty of goals and assists to his game this season. The French winger has transformed himself into a decent finisher in front of the opposition goal. He even has the vision to create plays for others around him but can benefit from being a bit more decisive in the attacking third.
A player of Diaby’s skillset will undeniably bring more pace, goals and creativity to Goodison Park and is more than capable to earn a regular place in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI. At 21, the French prospect is a player on the rise and his numbers would probably improve with each season, so the Everton boss can reap the rewards of having him in the long run if he can find a way to get a deal over the line for him during this summer transfer period.
Diaby will also bring some much-needed competition for James Rodriguez who has sometimes been a bit inconsistent in terms of his attacking contributions this season. All in all, the Toffees should think about fashioning a move to lure him to the northwest of England in this off-season.
