Kante Gets 7.5, Werner With 5.5 | Chelsea Players Rated In Hard-Fought Loss Vs Leicester City

Chelsea clashed heads with Leicester City at Wembley Stadium earlier this evening as they hoped to pick up a win and secure the FA Cup trophy. The Blues made a bright start to the game but struggled to be clinical in the final third as they went into the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

The Foxes began the second 45 minutes quite well and managed to get themselves ahead in the 63rd minute courtesy of Youri Tielemans’ excellent strike from long range. The contest ended with Thomas Tuchel’s men suffering a hard-fought 1-0 loss in the cup final.

Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against the Foxes.

GK: Kepa Arrizabalaga – 5.5/10

The Spaniard had no chance to save Tielemans’ match-winning strike. Otherwise, he was hardly tested during the game.

CB: Reece James – 6/10

He was strong in the air and made some crucial clearances during the game. He also passed the ball relatively well out from the back.

CB: Thiago Silva – 7/10

The Brazilian centre-back used his experience well to keep Jamie Vardy quiet throughout the 90 minutes. He also created a few decent chances for his teammates in the final third.

CB: Antonio Rudiger – 6/10

Rudiger tried to keep things solid inside his half and was also a threat at the other end of the pitch.

RM: Cesar Azpilicueta – 6/10

The Spaniard didn’t have to do too much defending and only managed to engineer one good chance during his time on the field. He got replaced in the second half.

CM: N’Golo Kante – 7.5/10

The Frenchman was full of energy and running at the centre of the park. He completed some promising dribbles in the Leicester half and orchestrated some meaningful openings for others around him.

CM: Jorginho – 6/10

The Italian sensation shielded his backline well but failed to influence the game in the attacking end of the field.

LM: Marcos Alonso – 7/10

The Spaniard got stuck in with a few tackles and made life difficult for the Foxes out on the wide areas. He was also lively going forward.

RAM: Hakim Ziyech – 6/10

Ziyech created a couple of inviting chances but never looked like he had a goal in him.

LAM: Mason Mount – 6/10

Mount got a few good chances to find the back of the net but did not have his shooting boots on today.

ST: Timo Werner – 5.5/10

The German striker hardly got a sniff at goal. He was once again guilty of missing a plethora of chances in the final third.

Substitutes:

LM: Ben Chilwell – 6/10

He almost made a goal-scoring impact but got denied by VAR.

RAM: Christian Pulisic – 6/10

Pulisic didn’t do nearly enough to get himself a goal.

ST: Kai Havertz – 6/10

The German youngster struggled to get into the game.

RM: Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6/10

He added some pace to Chelsea’s attack.

ST: Olivier Giroud – N/A

The Frenchman did not receive enough game time to warrant a rating.
