Recent reports from Daily Mail suggest that Arsenal have already begun talks over a move for Norwich City winger Emiliano Buendia as Mikel Arteta looks set to add to his attacking options.
The report further states that Arsenal’s new football director Richard Garlick is determined to make the £40million rated star their first signing of the upcoming transfer window. However, with Aston Villa interested in the same player, it will not be an easy buy for the Gunners.
Buendia’s Amazing Season At The Carrow Road
With 15 goals and 16 assists in thirty-nine Championship appearances, Emiliano Buendia enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his career this term, picking up Norwich’s Player of the Season and the EFL Championship’s Player of the Season awards. In addition, he has managed to put up some awe-inspiring numbers on the board – averaging 2.8 shots, 3.1 key passes, 1.6 dribbles, 1.3 crosses and 3.5 long balls per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship. Furthermore, with 48.5 passes played per game with a success rate of 78.6%, the Argentine international has been one of the best distributors of the ball for his side this term.
It goes without saying that the 24-year-old winger has played an instrumental role in Norwich City’s title charge, and an average WhoScored rating of 7.78 only highlights how impressive his overall game has been this season.
Good Signing For Mikel Arteta?
Emiliano Buendia’s last spell in the Premier League met a tragic end as the Canaries got relegated, and the 24-year-old had little to no impact on Norwich City’s terrible form. However, given his recent style of play, he seems to have developed a lot this time around. Mikel Arteta definitely needs to add to his attacking options if he wishes to challenge for the top four next season – and Buendia fits the bill perfectly.
The Championship sensation is primarily a right-sided winger but can also play on the left flank or as an attacking midfielder if needed, so investing in him could be a smart idea for an Arsenal side that lacks depth in the midfield area. Although, a lot depends on whether Martin Odegaard decides to return after his loan spell.
Nonetheless, Buendia will be an amazing signing under any circumstance, so Arteta should try his best to get this deal over the line in the coming months.
