West Ham United clashed heads with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to pick up a win on the road. The Hammers made an electric start to the game as they took the lead in the sixth minute courtesy of Jesse Lingard’s excellent solo goal. Pablo Fornals doubled his team’s advantage just eight minutes later when he found the back of the net with a brilliant finish. Jarrod Bowen put daylight between the two sides when he scored with a powerful strike in the 38th minute. However, Wolves got a goal back via Leander Dendoncker’s header just before half-time.
The home side struck again in the 68th minute courtesy of Fabio Silva’s goal to set up a grand finale to the game. However, David Moyes’ men hung on to their narrow advantage and managed to grind out a hard-fought 3-2 victory in the Premier League.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player performed during the game against Wolves.
GK: Łukasz Fabiański – 6.5/10
The Polish keeper made some good saves and did enough to get over the line with three points in the bag. However, he won’t be pleased after conceding a goal in each half.
RB: Vladimír Coufal – 7/10
He made some important clearances during the game and picked up an assist as well. A good night’s work for him.
CB: Craig Dawson – 6.5/10
Dawson cleared the danger when called into action and won a lot of aerial duels. However, he should have taken better care of the ball when passing it out from the back.
CB: Issa Diop – 7/10
The French defensive ace was a commanding figure inside his half as he cleared his lines when needed. He also pulled off a couple of crucial interceptions for his team.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 6/10
The English left-back had a quiet game on the defensive front and orchestrated just one good chance going forward.
CM: Mark Noble – 7/10
The veteran midfielder won the ball back quite a few times in midfield and was successful in disrupting Wolves’ flow in the game.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 7/10
Soucek worked hard to help his teammates out at the back but struggled to influence the game in the final third.
LM: Arthur Masuaku – 7.5/10
He was defensively solid and created a couple of meaningful openings in the attacking third. He ended the game with an assist to his name.
CAM: Jesse Lingard – 8.5/10
Lingard scored a wonderful solo goal in the first half and was at the heart of every good move West Ham made in the Wolves half.
RM: Pablo Fornals – 7/10
The Spaniard found the back of the net with a superb finish. Otherwise, he had a quiet game in the opposition half.
ST: Michail Antonio – 7.5/10
Antonio was always willing to run at his marker and was a constant menace for the Wolves centre-backs during his time on the field. He picked up an injury and was subbed in the 35th minute.
Substitutes:
ST: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10
Bowen came off the bench and scored with a ferocious strike from a tight angle.
LM: Ben Johnson – 6/10
He was full of energy but struggled to make an impact in the final third.
RM: Said Benrahma – 6/10
Benrahma hardly got a sniff at goal.
