Tottenham Hotspur entertained Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today as they hoped to secure a victory at home. Spurs managed to get themselves ahead in the 40th minute when Heung-min Son found the back of the net. The North London giants went into the half-time break one goal up on the scoreline.
Man United came back with a vengeance in the second half and got themselves level via Fred’s 57th-minute goal. Edinson Cavani completed the turnaround in the 79th minute when he scored via a leaping header. Mason Greenwood put the icing on the cake for the Mancunian giants as he added another goal in injury-time as Jose Mourinho’s men suffered a disappointing 3-1 loss at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player fared during the game against the Red Devils.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 6.5/10
The French custodian made some solid saves but still ended up conceding three goals during the 90 minutes. A bad day at the office for him.
RB: Serge Aurier – 6/10
He was strong in the air and made two important clearances at the back. He passed the ball well and created one good chance in the Man United half.
CB: Eric Dier – 6/10
Dier cleared his lines when needed and even blocked a few shots from the opposition. However, he also had a few sloppy moments inside his half.
CB: Joe Rodon – 6/10
The Welshman distributed the ball accurately and dealt with the danger a few times when called into action. Still, conceding three goals in the second half won’t please him.
LB: Reguilon – 6/10
The Spaniard won the ball back a couple of times but offered very little going forward.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 6.5/10
Ndombele was full of energy and made some encouraging runs from midfield. However, he didn’t do enough to help his teammates at the back.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 7/10
He got stuck in with a few tackles to disrupt Man United’s rhythm and even had a couple of bright moments in the opponent’s half.
RM: Giovani Lo Celso – 6.5/10
The Argentine playmaker did his fair share of defending during his time on the field but got replaced at the hour mark.
CAM: Lucas Moura – 7/10
The Brazilian speedster worked hard defensively and picked up a good assist for setting up Son’s goal in the first half.
LM: Heung-min Son – 7.5/10
Son was Mourinho’s best weapon in the attacking third. He caused all kinds of problems for the opposition centre-backs and gave his team the lead in the 40th minute.
ST: Harry Kane – 6/10
The English marksman squandered a few decent chances to find the back of the net. However, he got back and performed his defensive duties well.
Substitutes:
CM: Moussa Sissoko – 6/10
He struggled to get a foothold in the game.
CAM: Erik Lamela – 6/10
The Argentine hardly got a sniff at goal.
ST: Gareth Bale – N/A
Bale did not play enough minutes to influence the game.
