Manchester United faced off against Granada earlier tonight as they looked to pick up a positive result and proceed into the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League. Edinson Cavani broke the deadlock around the 6-minute-mark as he scored a sublime volley to extend United’s aggregate lead. The Red Devils dominated the game throughout the ninety minutes; however, a Jesus Vallejo own goal in added time wrapped up the tie for the home side. With a thumping 4-0 aggregate win over the Spanish side, Manchester United have secured a place in the last four of the competition.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the clash against the Nazaries.
David de Gea – 7/10
The Spanish shot-stopper was more of a spectator tonight. He looked fairly comfortable in between the sticks for the majority of the game but had to make two important saves in the last ten minutes.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 7/10
The English full-back put up a solid performance yet again as he prevented the Granada frontmen from creating menace down the right flank.
Victor Lindelof – 7/10
The Swedish defender paired well with Tuanzebe to keep things tidy at the back. He made some crucial blocks and interceptions as well.
Axel Tuanzebe – 7.5/10
Tuanzebe was hardly put under pressure tonight, but he did well to deal with whatever was thrown at him.
Alex Telles – 8.5/10
He delivered some quality crosses into the box, two of which resulted in goals eventually.
Nemanja Matic – 7/10
The Serbian international shielded the back-four really well and wasn’t afraid of driving forward whenever necessary.
Paul Pogba – 8/10
The Frenchman got himself an assist early in the game. He was simply too good for the opposition at times in the first half.
Fred – 7.5/10
The Brazilian midfielder was rather aggressive at the centre of the park as he put in a number of strong challenges to win the ball back for his side. He helped his team dominate the midfield proceedings for the majority of the match.
Mason Greenwood – 6/10
The Englishman lost the ball during United’s counter-attacks on several occasions. Besides, it never looked like he had a goal in him tonight.
Bruno Fernandes – 7/10
The Portuguese playmaker sprayed some important passes forward but lacked the clinical touch in front of the goal.
Edinson Cavani – 8/10
The Uruguayan striker opened the scoreline tonight to extend United’s aggregate lead. He worked tirelessly to get himself on the end of crosses.
SUBSTITUTES:
Donny van de Beek – 6/10
The Dutchman replaced Paul Pogba at half-time but he failed to create anything significant.
Daniel James – 6/10
The Welshman provided the hosts with some extra energy going forward.
Juan Mata – 6.5/10
The Spaniard added solidity to United’s midfield.
Amad Diallo – N/A
It was too late when he came on.
Brandon Williams – N/A
He replaced Wan-Bissaka in the 82nd minute.
