Chelsea faced off against Porto at Stamford Bridge earlier in the evening as they looked to pick up a positive result on their home turf. It’s the visitors who won tonight as Mehdi Taremi scored a spectacular goal in added time to secure a 1-0 win; however, it’s the Blues who proceed into the semi-finals with a 2-1 aggregate win.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the match against the Dragons.
Edouard Mendy – 6.5/10
The Senegalese shot-stopper had a couple of nervy moments in the first half but looked fairly comfortable in the second forty-five minutes. However, he will be disappointed for conceding a goal in the added time.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10
The Spaniard was a rock at the back tonight. He timed his tackles to perfections and even covered for Reece James whenever required.
Thiago Silva – 8/10
The 36-year-old centre-back took up all the right positions. He made some important clearances and blocks to keep things tidy at the back.
Antonio Rudiger – 6.5/10
The German defender gave away the ball easily on a couple of occasions which could have cost his side.
Reece James – 7/10
The England international was more focused on the attacking side of his game. He made some good runs down the right-hand side to help his side.
Jorginho – 8/10
The Italian midfielder made some clever interceptions at the centre of the park to neutralise Porto’s counter-attacks.
N’Golo Kante – 7.5/10
The Frenchman covered every blade of the grass tonight. He kept looking for ways to win the ball back and set up attacks. Paired well with Jorginho throughout.
Ben Chilwell – 6.5/10
The English full-back looked a bit sloppy tonight, but overall, he managed to put up a decent defensive performance.
Christian Pulisic – 7/10
The winger’s swift movement was a constant source of nuisance for the Porto defenders. He kept drawing fouls time and again.
Mason Mount – 7/10
The youngster worked tirelessly in the opposition half to create some meaningful chances for his teammates.
Kai Havertz – 6.5/10
The German international struggled to time his runs to perfection.
