Arsenal will lock horns with Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane on Sunday night, hoping to pick up a win away from home. The Gunners will be heading into the contest on the back of a lacklustre 1-1 draw against Slavia Prague in the UEFA Europa League, whereas the Blades recorded a 2-1 loss versus Leeds United last week.
Mikel Arteta will probably opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation with several tweaks from the last game. Mohamed Elneny might get the nod over Thomas Partey, whereas Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Sheffield United
Defence
Bernd Leno will continue to operate in between the sticks for the upcoming away encounter. The German shot-stopper ended up conceding an unfortunate 93rd-minute goal in midweek; however, he’ll be hoping to secure a clean sheet this time.
Gabriel will continue to form the centre-half partnership with Rob Holding at the heart of Arsenal’s backline.
Cedric Soares is a guaranteed starter at the left-back position, whereas Hector Bellerin will fill in on the other flank as the right-back. The duo would be looking to stretch the opposition backline and create meaningful chances for the front-men.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny will fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the former occupying a more defensive role. Emile Smith Rowe will slot into the attacking midfield role. The youngster would be determined to set up some clear-cut goal-scoring chances for his teammates.
Martin Odegaard looks likely to miss the next couple of matches with an unspecified injury.
“We don’t know.” – Arteta said.
“He wasn’t able to play today, and he will be out, I think, for the next game or two.
“But we don’t know yet.”
Smith Rowe will be accompanied by Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe on either side, playing on the left and right-wing, respectively.
Attack
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will lead the line for the visitors against Sheffield United. The Gabonese striker will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net when he faces off against the Sheffield defence that has kept just two clean sheets all season.
Alexandre Lacazette will have to settle for a place on the bench but might be called upon in the latter stages of the game if needed.
