Bayern Munich are hoping to move one step closer towards securing the Bundesliga title as they take on Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday. The Bavarians are coming on the back of a narrow win over Wolfsburg, although their triumph was shadowed by the announcement of Hansi Flick’s departure at the end of the season. They will be keen on ending the manager’s legacy on a strong note during this stage of the campaign.
Predicted Bayern Munich Lineup Vs Bayer Leverkusen
Defence
There are unlikely to be too many changes in the Bayern Munich defence as they continue to miss out on the services of Niklas Sule. Benjamin Pavard and Alphonso Davies, therefore, should retain their respective places in the fullback positions and are unlikely to be given a breather until Bayern do secure the title.
Jerome Boateng is another guaranteed starter, as the veteran centre-back hopes to renew his central defensive partnership alongside Lucas Hernandez. The latter, in particular, is one to watch out for, having produced excellent defensive performances in recent weeks. A strong end to the campaign, therefore, could go a long way in helping him become the main defender for Bayern next season, especially with Boateng and David Alaba set to leave.
Manuel Neuer, meanwhile, should retain his place in between the sticks, hoping for a much-needed clean sheet after a couple of poor performances against PSG and Wolfsburg respectively.
Midfield
Leon Goretzka does remain a doubt heading into this game while Corentin Tolisso and Marc Roca are both ruled out. It leaves Flick with no option but to persist with the midfield duo of Joshua Kimmich and David Alaba, although the German tactician always has the option of deploying the highly experienced Javi Martinez.
There is, however, a possibility that Goretzka could return, though it is unlikely that he will be rushed back into the setup.
Attack
Finally, in the attacking unit, Jamal Musiala could be rewarded with another start after starring in Bayern’s win over Wolfsburg. Only this time, the youngster is expected to replace Leroy Sane, thus paving the way for Kingsley Coman to return to the side.
The Frenchman and Musiala should occupy the wide-attacking role, with Thomas Muller and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting being deployed in more central roles. Unfortunately, it appears this game could come a bit too soon for Robert Lewandowski, although the Pole has returned to ball training.
