Manchester City entertained Leeds United at the Etihad Stadium earlier today as they looked to pick up maximum points at home. Pep Guardiola’s men struggled to be productive in the final third during the first half and conceded the opening goal in the 42nd minute when Stuart Dallas scored for the Whites. However, Liam Cooper was sent off soon after as Man City went into the half-time break one man up numerically but one goal down on the scoreline.
Ferran Torres equalized for the home side in the 76th minute but it was Dallas again who scored a dramatic late goal to win the game for his side. The contest ended with the Mancunian giants suffering a disappointing 2-1 loss in the Premier League.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player fared during the match against Leeds United.
GK: Ederson – 5.5/10
The Brazilian keeper had to make a good save to deny Raphinha but won’t be pleased after conceding a late goal in each half.
RB: Joao Cancelo – 7/10
The Portuguese full-back won the ball back a few times and created some decent chances for his teammates in the final third.
CB: John Stones – 7/10
Stones didn’t have to do too much defending but was a real threat in the opposition half. He had a few shot attempts but was not able to find the back of the net.
CB: Nathan Ake – 6/10
He struggled to give a good account of himself and got replaced in the second half.
LB: Benjamin Mendy – 6/10
Mendy made two important tackles but struggled to cause any problems for the Whites going forward.
CM: Bernardo Silva – 7/10
Silva managed to cause some headaches for the opposition and has got an assist to show for his efforts.
CM: Fernandinho – 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder orchestrated several inviting chances for his teammates in the final third but was guilty of squandering some promising chances to score.
CM: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7/10
The Swede was excellent in the attacking third as he engineered multiple openings for others around him.
RW: Ferran Torres – 7/10
The Spanish sensation equalised for Man City with his attempt from close range. He was a constant nuisance for the Leeds defenders.
ST: Gabriel Jesus – 7/10
The Brazilian striker made some excellent runs with the ball but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.
LW: Raheem Sterling – 6.5/10
The English speedster was not clinical in front of the opponent’s goal but deserves credit for being a goal-threat throughout the 90 minutes.
Substitutes:
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 6/10
He added some energy to the Man City midfield but there was no goal for him today.
LM: Phil Foden – 6/10
The youngster came off the bench and made one good chance.
