In a recent report, The Daily Mail has claimed that Leeds United are facing stiff competition in pursuit of Sheffield United starlet Kyron Gordon. It is believed that the Whites will have to rival Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton in the race to secure the English youngster’s services (via The Daily Mail).
Gordon’s Impressive Rise At Sheffield Recently
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks of the South Yorkshire club but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blades. Gordon has caught the eye by putting in some eye-catching displays for Sheffield United’s Under-23 side.
The talented defender has taken small steps towards improving himself and is currently amongst the brightest young defenders in English football. He has been involved in first-team training at Bramall Lane but is still waiting to represent the Yorkshire giants at the senior level. At 18, Gordon is still quite raw and would need time to develop himself in the coming seasons.
The English prospect is pushing himself to break into Sheffield’s first-team but has just got another year left in his contract which could open the door for any of his potential suitors, including the Whites, to seal a move for him this summer.
What Will The Blades Whizkid Bring To Elland Road?
Standing at 1.84m, Gordon can use his strong frame to win a few important headers for his side in the air. He has got a good leap in him and is quick enough to get back and make some recovering runs inside his half.
The English teenager can time his tackles well but still has a lot to learn before he can be thrown into the deep waters of first-team football. However, there is no denying that Gordon has the potential to become a class act in central defence someday.
Is Gordon A Prospect For The Future?
The early signs have been quite encouraging from Gordon, so Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa will fancy his chances of nurturing the player into a top talent in the coming seasons. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so the Whites will do well to lure him away from South Yorkshire this summer.
Gordon will be a great signing for Leeds as he will add a lot of long-term value to their squad. Bielsa has shown in the recent past that he can develop young talents into first-team stars which makes the Whites head coach the ideal man to oversee Gordon’s development.
