According to Daily Mail, Leeds United are among clubs interested in Glen Kamara. The Rangers midfielder has attracted a lot of attention from English clubs following his performances in the Scottish Premiership and a return to England could be on the cards this summer. Leeds, though, are set to face stiff competition from Southampton, Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion in the pursuit of Kamara.
Glen Kamara’s Success At Rangers
A former member of the Arsenal youth academy, Glen Kamara has been a part of the Rangers side since January 2019, when he joined the club for a mere €55k. He was initially brought in to supplement the midfield unit but has quickly become a valued first-team member of the side, having already made almost 100 competitive appearances for the club.
The holding midfielder has indeed flourished under the leadership of Steven Gerrard, becoming a mainstay in the number six position for Rangers this season. His composure on the ball, coupled with his ability to drive forward in possession, has raised the eyebrows of Premier League clubs, with the 25-year-old also boasting a lot of physical prowess that could make him a tail0r-made fit in English football.
Kamara’s contributions in the ongoing campaign have already helped Rangers seal the title, in a near-perfect fashion. The midfielder, therefore, is ready to take the next step in his career, most likely in the upcoming season.
How Does Kamara Fit In At Leeds United?
From a sporting perspective, Kamara could be a little harder to accommodate in Marcelo Bielsa’s tactical setup, especially if Leeds United manage to hold on to the services of Kalvin Phillips.
It would mean that the Rangers midfield will have to feature alongside Phillips, in what could be a changed 4-2-3-1 setup with just one attacking midfielder in either Mateusz Klich or Stuart Dallas. It could potentially affect the club’s chance creation, especially if the wingers fail to perform.
Although Kamara can always venture forward, Bielsa will certainly prefer a more natural attacking midfielder alongside Dallas. As such, it appears the 25-year-old can only be a good option if Leeds lose Phillips in the upcoming summer transfer window, as the player himself surely won’t be happy being an understudy to the English international next season.
It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape in the coming months, though in the meantime, both Kamara and Phillips will be hoping to help their respective team finish the campaign on a strong note.
