Liverpool will face off against Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday afternoon hoping to secure all three points at home. The Reds are going through a wretched run of form at home in the Premier League and even lost their midweek first-leg clash versus Real Madrid by a 3-1 scoreline in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Jurgen Klopp will have to find a way to get a much-improved performance from his players if the Merseysiders are to emerge victorious this weekend. The reigning Premier League champions will probably set themselves up in a 4-3-3 formation and are expected to make one change for this game. Thiago Alcantara could get a start at the expense of Georginio Wijnaldum, who should be benched after putting in a disjointed display in midweek.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Alisson Becker will function in goal for the Reds after shipping in three goals in his last appearance. Nathaniel Phillips will continue to partner Ozan Kabak at the heart of the Liverpool backline as they try to keep Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins quiet throughout the 90 minutes.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will probably keep his place at right-back while Andrew Robertson looks to produce a productive performance on the other side as the left-back. Klopp will give both of them the freedom to get forward and cause some problems for the Villa full-backs out on the flanks.
Ben Davies and James Milner will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.
Midfield
Klopp will probably tweak his midfield a little in the hopes of a better performance at the centre of the park. The talented trio of Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Naby Keita are expected to start while Georginio Wijnaldum gets some needed rest on the bench.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones will also be available for selection on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the latter stages if needed.
Attack
Sadio Mane was woeful in midweek, so he would be eager to catch the eye down the left flank. Mohamed Salah scored in his last outing, so he will once again carry most of the goal-scoring burden from the right while Diogo Jota once again leads the charge for Liverpool down the middle.
Roberto Firmino is expected to come off the bench and influence the game in the second half if the Reds are in need of a goal.
