Newcastle United will welcome West Ham United at St. James’ Park on Saturday afternoon as they look to pick up a positive result at home. The Magpies managed to secure a hard-fought 2-1 victory away at Burnley last weekend which will give them some momentum going into this clash versus the Hammers.
Steve Bruce will probably set his players up in a 3-5-2 formation and is expected to make a couple of changes to his first-team for this game. Both Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson will get the nod to lead the line for the Tyneside outfit up top at the expense of Joelinton and Dwight Gayle.
3-5-2 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United
Defence
Martin Dubravka will feature in between the sticks for the Magpies after he shipped in one goal versus the Clarets in his last appearance. Bruce might opt for a back three of Paul Dummett, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez as the defensive trio look to stop the Hammers from scoring this weekend.
Emil Krafth will offer cover for the centre-back positions on the bench.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey will once again anchor the midfield while both Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron assume the duties of the box to box midfielders. All three of them need to have a good game at the centre of the park if Newcastle are to come out on top this Saturday. Matt Ritchie will continue to function as the left wing-back while Jacob Murphy hopes to give a good account of himself down the right flank.
Javier Manquillo, Jeff Hendrick and Joe Willock will be available for selection on the bench as they await their opportunity to make an impact in the second half if needed.
Attack
As mentioned earlier, Callum Wilson will be ready to start alongside Allan Saint-Maximin in the final third. Both of them will have to carry most of the goal-scoring workload for the Magpies this weekend.
Andy Carroll and Joelinton will probably be named on the bench but one of them might come on to influence the game in the latter stages if Newcastle are in need of a goal.
