Wolves Winger Is On Barcelona’s Radar This Summer: Why Nuno Cannot Afford To Lose Him

El Gol Digital has recently reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore is on Barcelona’s radar this summer. It is understood that the Catalans are prioritising a move to bring the Wolves attacker back to the Nou Camp when the transfer window reopens later this year (via El Gol Digital).

Traore’s Underwhelming Form In English Football This Season

The 25-year-old is having a tough season at the Molineux Stadium after failing to be productive with his contributions in the attacking third. Traore has found the back of the net once and earned one assist in 31 matches for the West Midlands club this term across all competitions.

However, the former Aston Villa youngster has still managed to catch the eye by averaging 0.9 shots, 1.4 key passes and 4.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has given away the ball cheaply at times out on the wide areas based on his pass success rate of 74.9% in league football (stats via whoscored).

Traore has struggled to discover his form from the previous campaign when he banged in six goals and secured 12 assists for Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo needs to get the best out of him in the final stretch of this season if he wants his side to ensure a top-half finish in the Premier League table.

What Does The Spanish Speedster Bring To The Table?

Traore is one of the quickest players in European football and can turn on the afterburners to dribble past the opposition players with ease to get to the by-line. He loves to complete some dangerous dribbles out on the wide areas and can create a few decent chances for others around him.

However, his decision-making in the final third has often let him down in the recent past. The fact that the Spaniard has registered just one goal and one assist for Wolves this season is simply not good enough for a player of his skillset.

Why Wolves Cannot Afford To Lose Traore This Summer

Despite his lack of productivity, Traore remains one of the most valuable assets in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad because of his ability to make some direct runs towards the opponent’s penalty area. Plus, he has the pace and power to turn a match on its head, so the Midlands giants cannot afford to sanction his departure this summer.

Traore’s current contract at the Molineux is set to expire in the summer of 2023, so there is no immediate need for the Wolves manager to cash in on him unless he receives an enormous offer for the winger at the end of this campaign.
