In a recent report, El Gol Digital has stated that West Ham United are facing a fierce battle for Sevilla midfielder Joan Jordan. It is understood that the Hammers will be rivalled by AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma and Napoli in pursuit of the Spanish playmaker (via El Gol Digital).
Jordan’s Impressive Season At Andalusia So Far
Jordan is having a good season at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium after performing at a high level as a box to box midfielder in Julen Lopetegui’s starting XI. The Spanish sensation has found the back of the net twice and earned seven assists in 40 matches for the Andalusian outfit this term across various competitions.
The Regencos-born sensation has done a bit of everything in midfield as he is averaging 1.4 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 0.5 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.3 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. Jordan has hardly given away the ball when distributing it from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 89.6% in both those competitions (stats via whoscored).
Jordan has shown signs of improvement with his performances at Seville recently but is yet to prove his worth outside his homeland. However, there is no denying that the 26-year-old is transforming himself into a consistent performer for the Spanish outfit this season.
What Will The Spanish Midfield Ace Add To David Moyes’ Team?
Jordan makes up for his lack of mobility by working his socks off for his side. He is quite aggressive when pressing the opposition and can make some important defensive contributions at the back. The Spanish workhorse packs a lot of power with his shots at goal and possesses the vision to pick out a killer pass in the attacking third of the pitch. Jordan can retain possession in tight spaces using his excellent ball-control and tidy passing. Furthermore, he is a dead-ball specialist as he can add a lot of curve to his crosses and shot attempts from long range.
At 26, Jordan is currently at the peak of his football career, so he could turn out to be an excellent addition to David Moyes’ squad if the West Ham boss can get a deal over the line for him during the summer transfer window. He will add some serious competition for Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek and could even serve as an ideal long-term successor to Mark Noble at the London Stadium.
Jordan will offer more creativity and variety to Moyes’ match-day squad, but there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League, where he might struggle to cope with the physical nature and high intensity of English football.
