Real Madrid will be playing host to Elche on Matchday 27 of La Liga Santander at the Alfredo de Stefano Stadium in Madrid. The Whites are placed third in the points table and have failed to register a victory in both of their last two fixtures in the Primera Division.
In recent weeks, the situation surrounding injuries has drastically improved at Real Madrid, with the likes of Rodrygo, Valverde, Benzema and Militao returning to the fold. However, crucial members of the squad, such as Ramos, Carvajal and Hazard, continue to remain sidelined.
A few changes could be expected in the starting eleven, keeping in mind the upcoming fixture against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League. Here’s how Real Madrid could take the field against Elche on Saturday evening.
Real Madrid Predicted Lineup Against Elche
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will take command between the posts for Los Blancos. The goalie has failed to register a clean sheet in his last two outings and will want to change this on Saturday evening.
Lucas Vasquez will be deputising at the right-back position with Dani Carvajal out of contention for the fixture. Raphael Varane and Nacho Fernandez will be taking to the field in the centre of Madrid’s defence. Nacho Fernandez seemed a bit out of sorts against Atletico Madrid and will need to put in a better performance in order to save his place in the team with the return of Eder Militao from injury. Marcelo could be given the go-ahead for this fixture ahead of Ferland Mendy at the left-back position.
Midfield
Federico Valverde will replace Luka Modric in the playing eleven, which will allow the Croatian some much-deserved rest ahead of the all-important Atalanta fixture. Valverde was a joy to watch off the bench against Atletico Madrid as he brought in some much-needed desire and energy into the Real Madrid team. Casemiro and Toni Kroos will continue to keep their place in the starting eleven. Casemiro has been pivotal to the side in the absence of Sergio Ramos as the Brazilian has stepped up on numerous occasions with crucial blocks and goals. Modric and Isco will be making up the numbers on the bench for Zinedine Zidane.
Attack
Marco Asensio will return to the right-hand side of the attacking line, replacing Rodrygo who had a poor outing against Atletico Madrid. The lethal Karim Benzema will continue to occupy the number nine spot with Mariano out injured. The Frenchman has found the back of the net on 13 occasions this season in the Primera Division and more will be expected of him on Saturday. Vinicius Jr will start on the left-hand side of the attacking line. Vinicius has shown a lot of intent and character in recent matches and deserves to start ahead of Rodrygo in the side.
