Real Madrid are having a mediocre season thus far and that is largely to be blamed on poor performances by the players along with frequent injuries. With the business end of the season approaching, it’s high time a few players feed their focus and deliver the goods as and when required for Zidane. The Real Madrid camp is one of the most competitive and a slight push in the right direction would be sufficient to steer Los Blancos’ to a strong finish to the season. The 4th Official lists out two Real Madrid players who have been disappointing this season –
Real Madrid’s Weaklinks This Season
Marco Asensio
The Spaniard showed a lot of promise when he first burst on to the scene about five years ago. However, his growth and development as a player seem to have stagnated in the past couple of seasons. After missing out on almost the entire season last time around, Asensio was looked upon by Madridistas with great expectations.
The player has made as many as 24 appearances in the Primera Divison this season but with only two goals and two assists to his credit. These numbers are not the most promising and more so for a club of Real Madrid’s stature. These numbers need to improve and change drastically if Asensio has to prolong his stay at the Spanish capital. There have been talks of Asensio moving out of Madrid, but we will need to wait until the end of the season to find out.
Vinicius Jr
Real Madrid’s Weaklinks This Season
Vinicius Jr has had a mixed season with a couple of inspiring performances. The Brazilian has however been guilty of not delivering the goods in front of goals. His crossing and decision making under pressure have come under the scanner as well. Across all competitions, Vinicius has made over 30 appearances this season.
The number of goals and assists have been disappointing with just 3 goals and 2 assists all season long. The youngster has a lot of potential which he has failed to use to his advantage. Vinicius has also failed to utilise the lengthy spell Eden Hazard has spent on the sidelines. It’s an alarming time for Vinicius to pull up his socks and get his act together.
