Real Madrid boasts one of the best squads in Europe, and the amount of quality and talent on display cannot be measured on paper. It has become a norm for clubs to have excess players in their squad whom they loan out to other teams. The Whites too have loaned out several players at the start of the season and in the January window as well. The 4th Official lists out three Real Madrid loanees who are leaving a mark for themselves across Europe.
Real Madrid Loan Watch
Martin Odegaard
Martin Odegaard’s life at Arsenal has started sailing smoothly with heaps of praises coming in from Mikel Arteta time and again. The young midfielder has made as many as nine appearances at Arsenal since his switch at the end of January from Madrid. Odegaard scored his first goal for the English side earlier tonight and has earned a good first impression for himself in the Premier League with sharp and determined performances. It will be interesting to see if Odegaard would be able to storm his way into Zidane’s plan by the end of his loan deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Gareth Bale
The Welshman’s fallout with Zinedine Zidane was a highly discussed topic in Spain throughout the last season, and eventually, Bale was sent packing to Tottenham Hotspur. After a sluggish start to his second spell in the Premier League, Bale seems to be hitting the right gears and at the right moment.
Since the turn of the year, the Welshman has been in some scintillating form, and the numbers are ridiculous to watch as a Real Madrid fan. In 19 appearances this season, Bale has scored eight goals and created another five. Although it seems impossible for the Welshman to stage a return to Real Madrid, these figures might be key for the Whites in order to extract a reasonable amount for any possible suitors this summer.
Borja Mayoral
The La Fabrica graduate is finally doing justice to the faith Real Madrid have shown in him since he first burst onto the scene in 2015. After two disappointing loan spells at Wolfsburg and Levante, AS Roma came knocking last summer and secured a deal for two seasons for Mayoral. The tall striker has featured regularly in the Serie A for the Rome based outfit with 20 appearances to his name. Mayoral has contributed with six goals and two assists thus far in the league.
In the UEFA Europa League, Mayoral has found the back of the net on five occasions, taking his tally for the season to eleven. Real Madrid skimmed down their squad in January and allowed Luka Jovic to leave for Frankfurt and are now left with Mariano as the only backup striker. The Whites could cut short Mayoral’s loan spell in Rome and call him back to the first team at the end of the season.
