Real Madrid have been handed a major injury set-back just prior to the Madrid derby fixture against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Real Madrid announced the comebacks of Karim Benzema and Eder Militao from injury when they released their official Matchday squad earlier this evening. However, there was no mention of Eden Hazard who was earlier expected to make a return to the team for this crucial fixture.
Zinedine Zidane might not be affected by this injury setback to a great extent as the Belgian was not expected to be rushed into things after about two months on the sidelines. The return of Rodrygo from injury and the good form shown by Vinicius in recent matches have given Zidane and Real Madrid momentary relief.
The most interesting development, however, is that Eden Hazard has developed some new discomforts which are related to the injury that ruled him out of action in January. Hazard has already faced three spells on the sidelines this season and has made a mere eight appearances in La Liga. The 4th Official lists out the details of the new developments on Eden Hazard at the Valdebebas Training Facility –
Eden Hazard Injury News
What has happened since January?
Eden Hazard was pictured training at Real Madrid City in February following which Spanish publication, Marca, claimed that Eden Hazard was making a swift return from injury and even stated that he was running ahead of schedule. The Santiago Bernabeu faithful were hopeful that the winger would be returning to action in a quicker frame of time. Rodrygo and Fedrico Valverde were able to complete their recoveries in time and even appeared against Real Sociedad last weekend. However, Eden Hazard will have to prolong his stay at the medical facilities.
What is the latest development?
Ever since the Belgian completed his move to Madrid from Chelsea, his career has been majorly affected by injuries. This season itself Hazard has had muscular problems on three occasions apart from testing positive for the Coronavirus thereby limiting him to single-digit appearances in as many as 25 Primera Division matches.
The Belgian was on the right track on his road to recovery but encountered some ‘fresh’ problems in relation to the existing injury. It will be interesting to see Real Madrid’s next update on Eden Hazard. Los Blancos would be looking up to the medical team with the hope of having their important player back in the team before the second leg of the Round of 16 clash against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League.
