Bayern Munich are hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table when they lock horns with Werder Bremen on Saturday. The Bavarians are coming on the back of an emphatic 4-2 triumph over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker last time out, and with their closest competitors RB Leipzig facing a stern test against Eintracht this weekend, the record champions will be hoping to increase their lead at the top further.
Predicted Bayern Munich lineup Vs Werder Bremen
Defence
Benjamin Pavard is finally back in contention for Bayern Munich after missing a lot of games due to Covid-19. He should slot right back into the starting eleven, replacing Niklas Sule.
It is an ideal time for Pavard to return as well, after Jerome Boateng had picked up a knock against Dortmund, meaning Hansi Flick will now be able to field Sule alongside David Alaba at the heart of the four-man backline. The German, though, does have the option of Lucas Hernandez should Pavard start on the bench this weekend.
Elsewhere, Alphonso Davies is slowly starting to get back to his groove. He remains an important attacking outlet for Bayern at left-back while Manuel Neuer retains his place in between the sticks.
Midfield
Hansi Flick has no reason to tinker with the midfield duo of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka that starred in the fantastic triumph over the Black and Yellows last time out. Their understanding, work-ethic and creative prowess are set to play a key role once again, as the Bavarians dominate proceedings in the middle of the park.
Marc Roca and Javi Martinez remain potential options on the bench, should Flick require a more defensive shape. Even Alaba can move into a midfield role, if necessary.
Attack
There should be no changes in the attacking unit either, with Leroy Sane once again likely to get the nod ahead of Serge Gnabry at right-wing. Kingsley Coman is another guaranteed starter on the opposite flank while Thomas Muller retains his usual role in the number ten position.
Bayern do have a strong bench though with the likes of Jamal Musiala and Gnabry looking to provide the additional creative spark if necessary. Flick, though, will largely depend upon the services of star striker Robert Lewandowski to break the shackles of the Bremen defence this weekend.
