In a recent report, Tuttosport has stated that Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey could leave this summer amid interest from West Ham United. It is understood that the Turin giants could let the Welsh midfielder go for nothing to clear their wage bill which could encourage the Hammers to move in for him during the summer transfer window (via Tuttosport).
Ramsey’s Up and Down Season In Italian Football
It has been a season of mixed emotions for the former Arsenal midfield ace as he has produced some impressive displays despite his recent struggles with multiple injuries. Ramsey has been involved in 26 matches for the Italian outfit this term, registering two goals and five assists in multiple competitions.
The 30-year-old has done well to average 1.0 tackles, 0.4 interceptions, 1.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.5 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing it from midfield after completing 86.6% of his attempted passes in the Italian first division (stats via whoscored).
Ramsey could be tempted with the opportunity to join the Hammers as he knows the Premier League well from his time at Arsenal and could relish the prospect of proving his worth once again in English football.
What Will The Wales International Bring To The London Stadium?
Ramsey has a good football IQ and can make some driving runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty box. He has got the eye to pick up a killer pass in the attacking third and can create some meaningful openings for others around him.
The 61-time Wales international is also shy of having a shot at goal when afforded time and space by the opposition and can contribute by scoring and setting up his fair share of goals from midfield. However, he has been prone to injuries recently which would make him a risky option for West Ham to consider in this off-season.
Should The Hammers Snap Ramsey Up This Summer?
David Moyes does not have the luxury to rest on his laurels, so he needs to try everything in his power to strengthen his squad this summer and sustain another top-four push in the upcoming Premier League campaign. Ramsey fits the bill perfectly as he has got the experience and skillset to taste success at the London Stadium.
Plus, the Welshman will be an excellent long-term successor to Mark Noble who is in the last legs of his West Ham career. With all things considered, it makes sense for the East Londoners to bring Ramsey back to England when the transfer window commences later this summer.
