Barcelona are scheduled to make the trip to France to square off against Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League R016 fixture. Parc des Princes will be the host for the Wednesday evening kick-off in which the visitor’s trail by four goals to one.
Ronald Koeman will need a huge performance from his team if the Cules are to overturn the massive first-leg deficit where Kylian Mbappe ran riot at Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium. The Dutch gaffer will be without the services of Gerard Pique, Sergi Roberto, Ronald Araujo and Ansu Fati, who are yet to recover from their injuries.
Although it seems like a mountain to climb for the Catalans, it would be foolish to rule them out of the competition as they have shown in the past that they do have the nerves and firepower to overturn such ties. Barcelona were inspirational against Sevilla, and a similar performance will be expected out of the team on Wednesday evening.
Barcelona Predicted Line-Up Against Paris Saint-Germain
Defence
Marc Andre Ter Stegen will be taking command in Barcelona’s goal. The goalie has been in splendid form this season and even inspired Barcelona’s historic 3-0 semi-final victory against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey. Sergino Dest will be starting on the extreme right-hand side of the defence.
Oscar Mingueza will be working with Barcelona’s two central defenders, Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet. The three at the back formation has worked for Koeman, and a lot more of it can be expected in the future. Jordi Alba will be starting on the left-hand side of the defence playing as a wing-back.
Midfield
Frankie De Jong will retain his place in the team. The Dutchman has shown some real character and strength in recent fixtures this season, and Barcelona will want another special performance from De Jong in a fixture of this magnitude. Sergio Busquets and Pedri will be accompanying the former Ajax man in midfield. This trident has been most effective for Koeman this season, and it is hard to foresee the manager entrusting any other player for this clash.
Attack
Lionel Messi will be pairing up with Antoine Griezmann at the front. Lionel Messi has been in lethal form since the turn of the year across all competitions. The Argentine superstar will have to be at his absolute best if the Catalans are to stand any chance of making it past the Parisians on Wednesday. Koeman will obviously have Ousmane Dembele and Francisco Trincao to call on for duty from the bench.
