Manchester United will lock horns with West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday night, hoping to pick up a positive result on their home turf. The Red Devils will be heading into the contest on the back of a 1-1 draw with AC Milan in the Europa League, whereas the visitors recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Leeds United earlier this week.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation with a couple of tweaks from the last game. Amad Diallo might replace Anthony Martial in the attack, whereas Victor Lindelof looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs West Ham United
Defence
Dean Henderson will continue to operate in between the sticks for the upcoming home encounter. The English shot-stopper made some brilliant saves against AC Milan in midweek but ended up conceding an unfortunate late goal; however, he’ll be hoping to secure a clean sheet this week.
Victor Lindelof will replace Eric Bailly to form the centre-half partnership with skipper Harry Maguire at the heart of United’s backline.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a guaranteed starter at the right-back position, whereas Luke Shaw will return to fill in on the other flank as the left-back. The duo has been in blistering form over the past few months, and they would be looking forward to adding to their streak of impressive performances against the Irons.
Midfield
Scott McTominay and Fred will fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the latter occupying a more central role.
Bruno Fernandes, who picked up a clever assist against AC Milan, will slot into the attacking midfield role. The Portuguese playmaker will be looking to add to his goal-scoring tally against David Moyes’ men on Sunday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been left sweating over the fitness of some key first-team players ahead of Sunday’s Premier League match with West Ham United.
Marcus Rashford, who picked up an ankle injury against Manchester City last week, is unlikely to be available this weekend.
“I definitely hope Marcus is back for next Thursday in Milan. I’m not sure he’ll make Sunday but, fingers crossed, as we’ll need him.” – The Norwegian coach stated.
Anthony Martial (hip injury) remains another concern.
“Anthony got a whack on his hip, so there’s another forward we need to scan and look at. Unfortunately, he got a whack on his hip quite early in the first half, so he couldn’t go on.” – Solskjaer revealed in his post-match press conference.
As a result, Fernandes will be accompanied by Daniel James and Amad Diallo on either side, playing on the left and right-wing respectively. The duo will be looking to use their pace and directness to breeze past the Hammers’ defence.
Attack
Mason Greenwood is expected to lead the line for the hosts against West Ham United. The English youngster would be hoping to step up his game amid United’s injury crisis and get his name back on the goal-scoring charts against David Moyes’ men this weekend.
However, veteran striker Edinson Cavani will play no part for the Red Devils this Sunday.
“Edinson, I don’t think will be ready for Sunday, no.” – Solskjaer revealed.
