Arsenal will lock horns with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, hoping to pick up a win away from home. The Gunners will be heading into the contest on the back of an impressive 3-1 win over Leicester City, whereas the hosts lost 4-0 to Tottenham on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta will probably opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation with several tweaks from the last game. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang might get the nod over Alexandre Lacazette, whereas Bukayo Saka looks likely to make his way back into the starting eleven.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup Vs Burnley
Defence
Bernd Leno will continue to operate in between the sticks for the upcoming away encounter. The German shot-stopper ended up conceding a goal against the Foxes due to an unfortunate defensive error; however, he’ll be hoping to secure a clean sheet this time.
Gabriel will replace Pablo Mari to form the centre-half partnership with David Luiz at the heart of Arsenal’s backline.
Kieran Tierney is a guaranteed starter at the left-back position, whereas Cedric Soares will fill in on the other flank as the right-back. Up against a low-block set-up, the duo would be looking to stretch the opposition backline and create meaningful chances for the front-men.
Midfield
Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey will fulfil the holding midfield positions, with the latter occupying a more defensive role. Granit Xhaka played a key role against the Foxes last week as he made some good tackles to stop Leicester counter-attacks, and he’ll be hoping to repeat more of the same on Saturday.
Martin Odegaard will slot into the attacking midfield role. The Real Madrid loanee will be hoping to score his first Premier League goal against Sean Dyche’s men.
Emile Smith Rowe picked up a hip injury against Leicester City, and as a result, he remains a concern ahead of the clash.
“Emile had a scan yesterday. It doesn’t look a significant injury, but he was in discomfort and, for the rest [of the squad], hopefully, everybody should be okay.” – Arteta revealed.
Odegaard will be accompanied by Willian and Bukayo Saka on either side, playing on the left and right-wing, respectively. The latter has been in fine form lately, often carrying most of his side’s creative and goal-scoring burdens, and after a complete rest last week, he’ll raring to go into the contest.
Attack
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will lead the line for the visitors against Burnley. The Gabonese striker has often found himself struggling in front of the goal this season, so he’ll be eager to impress against the Clarets this weekend.
Alexandre Lacazette will have to settle for a place on the bench, but he might be called upon in the latter stages of the game if needed.
