Defense
Marc Andre Ter Stegen will be starting between the sticks for Ronald Koeman. The goalie has been in exceptional form this season and Real Sociedad will need to be at their very best to beat the German on Sunday evening. Oscar Mingueza will start on the right of the three-man back-line which will comprise Ronald Araujo and Clement Lenglet. Ronald Araujo made his return from injury against Huesca and will be getting his first start post-injury. Lenglet has been walking a tight rope with repeated mistakes this season and will need to get his act together at the Anoeta Stadium. Jordi Alba and Sergino Dest have operated as wing-backs in the last couple of fixtures and Ronald Koeman is expected to stick to his 3-5-2 formation.
Midfield
Frenkie de Jong will make his return to midfield after being deployed in a defensive position against Huesca. Sergio Busquets and Pedri will be starting alongside de Jong in midfield. Busquets will try to anchor things for Barcelona from the center of the field in a territory that has haunted Barcelona in their visits over the last decade or so. Pedri will look to get involved in the proceedings, especially with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann. The youngster is a joy to watch with his effortless skills and dribbling. Miralem Pjanic and Ilaix Moriba could be deployed by Koeman in the latter stages of the game.
Attack
Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann will lead Barcelona’s attack on Sunday evening. Messi has been instrumental in Barcelona’s unbeaten run in the league since the turn of the year and the Catalans will be looking forward to another Lionel Messi masterclass. Griezmann has slowly paved his way back into the starting eleven with impressive displays. The Frenchman scored an identical goal to Lionel Messi’s against Huesca. Francisco Trincao and Martin Braithwaite will be making up the numbers on the bench for the Cules.
