Aston Villa will lock horns with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Wednesday evening, hoping to get another win under their belt in the Premier League. The Villans managed to grind out a 1-0 win away at Leeds United last weekend, which will keep them in high spirits heading into this league clash in midweek.
Dean Smith will revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a couple of tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Both Ross Barkley and Douglas Luiz could come into the Villa side to replace Jacob Ramsey and Marvelous Nakamba later this week.
4-2-3-1 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Emiliano Martinez will feature in goal for the Villans after securing a clean sheet versus the Whites in his last league outing. Ahmed Elmohamady will get the nod to function as the right-back while Matt Targett continues to feature on the other flank as the left-back.
Ezri Konsa will probably resume his defensive partnership with Tyrone Mings at the heart of the Villans backline as they try to keep the Blades at bay throughout the 90 minutes. Neil Taylor and Bjorn Engels will have to settle for a spot on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the second half if required.
Midfield
Douglas Luiz will anchor the midfield along with John McGinn as they try to establish their dominance at the centre of the park. Anwar El Ghazi will continue to play as a winger on the left flank after managing to net the only goal of the game against Leeds last Saturday, which will give him a confidence boost heading into this match at Bramall Lane in midweek.
Ross Barkley could return to assume the duties of being Villa’s primary attacking midfielder while Bertrand Traore focusses on putting his pace to good use on the right-wing. Smith will be sweating on the fitness of his captain Jack Grealish, who will be in a race against time to be fit for this game.
Attack
Ollie Watkins will once again lead the charge for the West Midlands club up top. The English forward will be eager to find the back of the net and make a difference in this game.
