Chelsea will entertain Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, hoping to keep their momentum going by picking up another win in the FA Cup quarterfinals. The Blues managed to beat Atletico Madrid by a convincing 2-0 scoreline at home in midweek, so they will be quietly confident about their chances of qualification this weekend.
Thomas Tuchel will probably stick with his favoured 3-4-2-1 formation and could be inclined to make a few changes to his first-team for this game. However, Andreas Christensen is a major doubt because of illness which could mean that Tuchel might name Kurt Zouma once again as a part of his back three.
3-4-2-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Edouard Mendy will feature in between the sticks for the West London club after he bagged a clean sheet in his last outing. Chelsea will set up with a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Kurt Zouma and Antonio Rudiger for this game.
Christensen is unlikely to be risked in this match, but Tuchel will still believe that his first-team defenders can do a good job against the Blades and keep them at bay throughout the 90 minutes.
Midfield
Jorginho will return from suspension to feature alongside Mateo Kovacic at the centre of the park. Both of them will try to establish their midfield superiority and engineer some decent chances in the final third. Ben Chilwell could get the nod to function as the left wing-back while Callum Hudson-Odoi fills in on the other flank as a makeshift right-sided wing-back.
Mason Mount and Timo Werner will operate just ahead of them as the free-flowing attacking midfielders. The attacking duo will carry most of the creative workload as they try to set-up some inviting openings for Olivier Giroud up top.
Marcos Alonso, Hakim Ziyech and N’Golo Kante will drop to the bench as they offer cover for the midfield positions.
Attack
Giroud could get another chance to spearhead Tuchel’s attack in the final third. The French striker is well-rested and should be fresh for this FA Cup clash versus the Blades.
Christian Pulisic will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to influence the game in the latter stages if required.
