Tottenham Hotspur slump to their second consecutive defeat at home following a 1-0 loss against London rivals Chelsea this evening. It was a disappointing game for the Lilywhites who were too passive and let the opposition dominate the game for the large parts. In the end, it was a first-half penalty from Jorginho that proved to be the main difference, as Chelsea continue their good form under Thomas Tuchel.
Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings Vs Chelsea
Hugo Lloris 7/10
Had to remain alert to save Mason Mount’s late effort. Couldn’t have done much to deny Jorginho from scoring the penalty in the first half.
Serge Aurier 6/10
Serge Aurier struggled to make his presence felt on the far side. A more offensive approach was needed to make the Ivorian more effective.
Toby Alderweireld 7/10
Toby Alderweireld had a decent game, keeping Timo Werner in check despite all of Chelsea’s pressure throughout the game.
Eric Dier 5/10
Eric Dier had a horrid game against Chelsea. He made a silly challenge inside the box, leading to a penalty. It was followed by another error in the second half.
Ben Davies 6/10
Ben Davies remained strong defensively on the far side. The Welshman didn’t make too many errors and did his job well.
Moussa Sissoko 6/10
Moussa Sissoko found it difficult to impose his authority in the middle of the park. Harry Winks may have been a better option for Tottenham in this game.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 6.5/10
It wasn’t the best day at the office for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who looked uncharacteristically sloppy and struggled to dominate the middle of the park.
Steven Bergwijn 6/10
Steven Bergwijn couldn’t influence the game with his pace and trickery on the flanks. Simply wasn’t involved enough in the proceedings.
Tanguy Ndombele 6/10
Tanguy Ndombele failed to shine in the number ten position, struggling to create any chances for his team with his trademark through passes.
Son Heung-Min 6/10
Son Heung-Min tried to make runs in behind the backline but was often isolated by the Chelsea defenders. An ineffective performance from the South Korean international.
Carlos Vinicius 6/10
Struggled to replace Harry Kane in the lone number nine slot, and missed a glorious opportunity late in the game to level things up.
SUBSTITUTES
Lucas Moura 6.5/10
Lucas Moura offered a lot of energy and trickery after on in the second half. Should have probably started the game.
Erik Lamela 6.5/10
Erik Lamela produced a promising display after coming on for Ndombele. He was more agile and direct with his play, even getting a shot on target.
