Tottenham Hotspur entertained Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier today, hoping to secure a positive result at home. Spurs made a bright start to the game and took the lead in the second minute courtesy of Gareth Bale’s goal from close range. Harry Kane doubled his team’s advantage just 13 minutes later before Lucas Moura added one more goal for the North London outfit in the 31st minute to put real daylight between the two sides. Jose Mourinho’s men went into the half-time break with a comfortable three-goal lead.
Gareth Bale put the icing on the cake when he found the back of the net yet again in the 55th minute as Tottenham cruised to a dominant 4-0 win at the English capital.
Let’s take a look at how each Tottenham player fared during the match against the Clarets.
GK: Hugo Lloris – 7.5/10
The French keeper had to make a few saves to restrict the opposition from scoring during the 90 minutes. However, he was a bit untidy with his passing from the back.
RB: Serge Aurier – 7.5/10
Aurier did his best to neutralise the threat of the Clarets attackers and made a couple of decent chances in the attacking third.
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 8.5/10
Sanchez commanded his penalty box with authority and pulled off multiple crucial clearances to keep the opposition at bay throughout the game. He also won plenty of aerial duels for his team.
CB: Toby Alderweireld – 7.5/10
The Belgian defensive ace cleared the danger when called into action and performed well enough to secure the clean sheet. He was solid in the air as well.
LB: Sergio Reguilon – 7.5/10
The Spanish full-back was defensively solid and even managed to make a couple of promising runs down the left flank.
CM: Tanguy Ndombele – 7.5/10
Ndombele established Spurs’ superiority at the centre of the park and engineered an inviting chance going forward.
CM: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – 7/10
He passed the ball well and did enough work defensively to help his side get over the line with the clean sheet in the bag.
RW: Gareth Bale – 9.5/10
Bale was a constant menace for the Clarets defenders because of his late runs into the opposition penalty box. He scored a brace today which will give him a lot of confidence heading into the business end of this campaign.
CAM: Lucas Moura – 8.5/10
The Brazilian was always willing to have a shot and did well to get his name on the scoresheet in the first half.
LW: Heung-min Son – 9/10
Son caused all sorts of headaches for the Burnley centre-backs with his creativity and ended the game with two assists to his name.
ST: Harry Kane – 8.5/10
The England international was at the peak of his powers today as he orchestrated some meaningful openings for others around him in the final third. He also got his name on the scoresheet.
Substitutes:
CAM: Dele Alli – 6.5/10
Alli had a couple of lively moments after coming on in the second half.
RW: Erik Lamela – 6/10
The Argentine sensation offered very little after coming off the bench.
RB: Matt Doherty – 6/10
He did enough to see out the win without conceding a goal.
