Real Madrid Set To Beat Liverpool To This Defensive Star’s Signing: How Their Defensive Lineup Could Shape Up

David Alaba to Real Madrid is almost a done deal as per a report by Spanish publication, Marca. The Whites have seemingly struck a deal for the transfer of Alaba which will be completed in the summer transfer window. The Austrian defender is approaching the end of his contract at the Allianz Arena, and with no renewal on the cards, Alaba will seal a free transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The versatile defender is a solution to two problems Real Madrid are facing in the defensive third in the form of Marcelo and Sergio Ramos, who are both nearing the end of their careers in the White of Madrid. Alaba can be deployed at left-back as well as the centre-back position, and this will check more than just one box for the Galacticos.

The Bayern Munich star is a seasoned defender and has even featured in the UEFA Champions League for several years on the bounce. The Whites would be fairly content and satisfied with the arrival of Alaba, especially with the 28-year old arriving on a free transfer.

It is understood that Liverpool have also been interested in the defender but will have to put an end to their pursuit with Alaba’s chosen destination for the summer of 2021 being Madrid. Reputed journalist, Fabrizio Romano, recently suggested that David Alaba would settle for nothing but Real Madrid this summer. Romano took to Twitter explaining the details of the deal offered by the Reds. Find his tweet below.

How Real’s Back-Line Could Shape In The Coming Seasons

Marcelo seems destined for a Santiago Bernabeu exit with game time majorly drying up in the past two seasons. There are talks of a Sergio Reguilon return from Tottenham Hotspur, but the arrival of Alaba would leave no space for the Spaniard on the team.  Dani Carvajal would continue to occupy the right-back slot, and Raphael Varane will be a part of the back-line as well. The Whites would be hoping for a Sergio Ramos renewal for a season at least before finally seeing the end of a generation at Real Madrid with the departures of Ramos and Marcelo in close proximity.
