Zinedine Zidane’s injury struck Real Madrid side will be making the trip to Valladolid to play their Matchday 24 encounter at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium on Sunday evening. The hosts, Real Valladolid, are placed 18th in the points table and will be seeking to get out of the relegation zone by the end of the season.
Real Madrid have had sufficient rest for this fixture and will be gunning for all the three points to maintain the pressure on Atletico de Madrid on top of the table. Los Blancos are scheduled to make the trip to Italy midweek to play their UEFA Champions League RO16 fixture against Atalanta and a couple of tweaks could be made to the starting eleven by Zidane.
It is no news that the Whites have been crippled by injuries and as many as eight first-team players continue to remain absent for the team from the Spanish capital. The likes of Sergio Ramos, Rodrygo, Eden Hazard, Federico Valverde, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Eder Militao and Alvaro Odriozola will not be a part of proceedings on Sunday with their respective injuries. Here’s how the Whites could take to the field on Sunday evening –
Real Madrid Predicted Line-Up Against Real Valladolid
Real Madrid Predicted Line-Up Against Real Valladolid
Defence
Thibaut Courtois will take command in goal for the Whites. The Belgian would be determined to add to his clean-sheet tally of 10 this season. Lucas Vasquez, who made his return from injury against Valencia, will be occupying the right-back slot. A centre-back pairing of Nacho Fernandez and Raphael Varane will be taking to the field at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium. The two central defenders have gelled well in recent meetings and Zidane would be pleased with their efforts collectively. Ferland Mendy will be starting at the left-back slot. The Frenchman has been in good goal-scoring form with two goals in two matches to his credit.
Midfield
Isco Alarcon could be given the nod for this fixture ahead of Luka Modric who should be rested keeping in mind the midweek clash against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League. Casemiro will be a part of the starting eleven alongside Isco. The Brazilian has been crucial for Real Madrid amidst all their injury struggles and all eyes will be glued to him on Sunday with Sergio Ramos absent from the squad. Toni Kroos, who is seemingly in the form of his life, will be a part of the team that will take to the field on Sunday.
Attack
Marco Asensio will start on the right-hand side of the attacking trident. The Spaniard will also be having to drop deep and help out the team in defence on the right. Asensio and Vasquez have teamed up impressively on the flanks and something similar would be expected out of them on Matchday 24. Karim Benzema will be leading Madrid’s attack line and will be looking to add to his collection of 12 goals this season. Vinicius Jr will be starting on the left flank with Eden Hazard missing from action.
