Tottenham Hotspur put an end to their three-game losing streak by securing a 2-0 triumph over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday afternoon. It was a much-needed win for Jose Mourinho’s men who were losing ground in the league table, following a disappointing run of performances, with goals from Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min proving to be the main difference between these two sides.
Tottenham Hotspur Player Ratings Vs West Brom
Hugo Lloris 6.5/10
Hugo Lloris had to make just one save as West Brom barely caused any trouble in the defensive half. A useful clean sheet for the Spurs goalkeeper.
Serge Aurier 7/10
Serge Aurier made good use of his starting opportunity at right-back. Weathered the pressure by the West Brom attackers, though he was subbed off in the second half.
Davinson Sanchez 7.5/10
Davinson Sanchez did well in place of Eric Dier at centre-back. His understanding with Toby Alderweireld looked sharp.
Toby Alderweireld 7.5/10
Alderweireld used his experience and intelligence to catch the West Brom attackers offside on multiple occasions. Helped his team earn a much-needed clean sheet.
Ben Davies 7/10
Ben Davies did his job defensively, providing added support for the two centre-backs. Has the potential to become a better fullback if he can work on his offensive prowess.
Tanguy Ndombele 6.5/10
Tanguy Ndombele operated in a deeper role due to the lack of an extra midfielder. The Frenchman couldn’t produce those hallmarks runs into the opposition third, but was solid in possession.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 8/10
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg orchestrated the play as one would expect, using his intelligence to read the game well. The Dane also delivered an ideally weighed through ball to register the assist for Kane’s opener.
Erik Lamela 7/10
Erik Lamela provided a lot of movements in the final third for Tottenham. He even picked out useful passes, but his influence waned as the game progressed.
Lucas Moura 7.5/10
Lucas Moura impressed the onlookers with his work-ethic and ball-carrying ability. A mesmerising assist for the second goal from Son.
Son Heung-Min 7.5/10
Son Heung-Min didn’t exactly provide a lot of penetration into the opposition half but took his chance well to double Tottenham’s lead just before the hour mark.
Harry Kane 7.5/10
Made the difference on his return to the team sheet. The Englishman worked hard and looked ice-cold in finishing the chance presented by Hojbjerg. Also initiated the counterattack that led to the second goal.
