A seven-goal thriller at Bosuilstadion ended up in favour of Rangers against Antwerp in the Europa League Round of 32 encounter. The 4-3 first-leg win showed the Gers resilience and character when they came back twice from behind overcoming injury woes and clinched a late winner on the road. But they have little time to recover and must get ready for Sunday afternoon’s Dundee United clash at Ibrox.
Rangers have a huge 15-point lead at the top of the Premiership standings over bitter rivals Celtic and are close to conquering the coveted crown with an array of games remaining. Fitness and fatigue might still be a concern, however, the Bears have shown enough grit and determination to stay unbeaten so far and would look to ensure three more points to be one step closer to the silverware.
Predicted 4-3-3 Rangers Lineup To Face Dundee United
Defence
Allan McGregor conceded thrice on Thursday night but is still irreplaceable between the sticks with his sheer dominance and supremacy. He would keep his place once again over Jon McLaughlin.
James Tavernier’s injury is a massive blow for the Light Blues who would need to bank on Leon Balogun as a makeshift right-back until the skipper recovers. With the Nigerian featuring down the wide, Filip Helander should retain his place at the heart of the backline alongside Connor Goldson. Borna Barisic scored a brace from the spot (including the winner) versus the Belgian side and is expected to retain his left-back role with Calvin Bassey suspended due to disciplinary reasons.
Midfield
The return of Scott Arfield is a boost for the Glasgow giants in terms of depth as well as creativity in the middle of the park. But he must not be rushed and should start from the bench against the Tangerines. Steven Davis, 36, is playing week in week out and therefore, needs to be rested too ahead of next midweek’s crucial second-leg tie. Ryan Jack should be lined up centrally along with Joe Aribo with Glen Kamara operating from the wide of their three-man midfield.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos would be available for selection after serving his three-game ban and is tipped to lead the line ahead of Cedric Itten who failed to live up to the hype in the past couple of fixtures. Kemar Roofe suffered an injury blow which should see Ryan Kent occupying his usual left-wing spot with Ianis Hagi featuring from the right-hand flank.
