Manchester United faced off against Real Sociedad at the Allianz Stadium earlier tonight hoping to pick up a win in the first match of the two-legged-tie. The Red Devils tore apart Sociedad’s defence as Fernandes, Rashford, and James all managed to get their names on the scoresheet.
Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared during the match against the Royals.
Dean Henderson – 8/10
The English shot-stopper looked fairly confident in between the sticks as he helped his side secure a clean-sheet.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6.5/10
Despite picking up a yellow card early in the game, he did well to neutralise Real Sociedad’s attacking threats down the right flank.
Harry Maguire – 7.5/10
The skipper put up a dominant display at the heart of United’s backline tonight as he made numerous blocks and challenges to prevent the hosts from finding the back of the net.
Eric Bailly – 8/10
The Ivorian centre-back hardly put a foot wrong throughout the game and was a colossal presence for the visitors tonight. He paired well with Harry Maguire.
Alex Telles – 6.5/10
The Brazilian full-back kept looking for ways to exploit the Sociedad defence down the left-wing. He made some well-timed runs to trouble the opposition.
Fred – 7/10
The Brazilian midfielder provided United’s back-four with much needed defensive solidity and played a beautiful through-ball to Rashford for the third goal of the match.
Scott McTominay – 7/10
The Scottish international looked full of energy at the centre of the park as he did extremely well to retain the possession at times. However, he was replaced by Nemanja Matic in the 60th minute of the game.
Daniel James – 8/10
The Welsh international looked sharp on the ball tonight as he got himself a goal and an assist. His blistering pace certainly created all sorts of troubles for Imanol Alguacil’s men.
Bruno Fernandes – 9/10
The Portuguese playmaker created loads of chances for the frontmen and converted the first chance that came his way to provide the visitors with the lead. Later, he doubled United’s lead around the 57-minute-mark.
Mason Greenwood – 6.5/10
The 19-year-old could have made better decisions in the attacking third.
Marcus Rashford – 7.5/10
The English striker had a couple of clear-cut chances in the first half, but it looked like he left his shooting boots at home as both his shots were straight at Remiro. Nonetheless, he got his name on the scoresheet as he converted the one chance he got in the second half.

The Frenchman provided his side with some extra energy going forward.

The Serbian international fulfilled his defensive duties after coming on.
