Everton will clash heads with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening hoping to bounce back from their 3-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City in midweek. The Toffees have lost their past two matches in the Premier League, so it’s high time that they got their act straight by picking up a result versus Jurgen Klopp’s men this weekend.
Carlo Ancelotti will revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to make a few tweaks to his starting XI for this game. Seamus Coleman, Andre Gomes and James Rodriguez can expect to be named on the Everton first-team, but Ancelotti will be sweating on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is a significant concern for this game.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Liverpool
Defence
Jordan Pickford will retain his spot in goal for the Toffees after shipping in three goals versus Man City in midweek. Mason Holgate could move back to central defence to partner up with Michael Keane at the centre of the Everton backline as they try to limit the chances Liverpool create during the 90 minutes.
Yerry Mina sustained a knock on Wednesday, so he is unlikely to recover in time for this clash. Seamus Coleman will try to work hard from the right-back position while Ben Godfrey fills in as a makeshift left-back. Both of them can expect to have their hands full when dealing with the pace of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah out on the wide areas.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Abdoulaye Doucoure will feature as the holding midfielders as they look to make life difficult for the Reds at the centre of the park. Lucas Digne was used as a makeshift winger on the left flank in midweek and could once again be deployed in a similar role if Dominic Calvert-Lewin fails to recover in time for this clash.
Gylfi Sigurdsson will operate in the number ten position while James Rodriguez tries to weave his magic from the right. We can expect the Colombia international to carry most of the creative workload for the away team because of his ability to make plays for others around him.
Attack
All eyes will be on Calvert-Lewin as it is still unclear whether he can make himself available this weekend. Even if he passes a late fitness test, Ancelotti might take the safer option and name him on the bench and start Richarlison as his primary centre-forward up top.
