Real Madrid outperformed Getafe by two goals to the good and successfully sealed three points from their home fixture against their neighbours from the other side of the city. Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy scored in the space of six minutes to snatch the tie away from the visitors.
Zidane deployed a different formation in 3-4-3, and it seemed to work for the Whites. Getafe barely put up a show and failed to test Thibaut Courtois even once. The Belgian goalie barely had a save to make the entire night. Nevertheless, a clean sheet to add to Courtois’ collection for the season.
CB: Nacho Fernandez – 7/10
The defender put in a good shift at the back, and the manager would be pleased with his performance.
CB: Raphael Varane – 8/10
A commanding display at the back from Varane. The defender ensured that the Getafe attack kept a safe amount of distance from the Madrid goal.
CB: Ferland Mendy – 9/10
A deserving Man of The Match performance from Ferland Mendy who operated on the left-hand side of the back three. Mendy scored the crucial second goal in the match which sealed the fate for the visitors.
CM: Marvin Park – 7/10
A spirited effort from the youngster down the right-hand side. Park played with intent, but there is a lot for him to work on before announcing himself as a first-team regular.
CM: Luka Modric – 8/10
A controlling performance from Luka Modric who bossed things from the middle of the pitch. The Croatian must have certainly missed his partner in crime, Toni Kroos, on the field of play.

The Brazilian was in total control of proceedings in the middle of the pitch and seemed to adapt well to the needs of the new 3-4-3 formation deployed by Zinedine Zidane today.
CM: Marcelo – 8/10
A marvellous display from Marcelo who was a joy to watch in the further areas of the field. The attacking-minded full-back assisted Ferland Mendy 66th minute goal. The Brazilian certainly enjoyed the waiver in defensive duties after being deployed in midfield. Chust replaced Marcelo in the closing moments of the game.
RW: Marco Asensio – 7/10
Marco Asensio had a satisfactory evening in Madrid. The winger was majorly involved down the right-hand side. Isco was brought on to replace Asensio in the second half of the fixture.
ST: Karim Benzema – 9/10
The Frenchman scored the night’s opening goal and gave the Whites a firm grip of the match. The striker played the entire ninety minutes of the match and later took on the armband from Marcelo.
LW: Vinicius Jr – 8/10
The Brazilian had an amazing outing at the Alfredo De Stefano Stadium. Vinicius delivered a pinpoint cross for Karim Benzema’s opening goal of the night.
