According to Sport Bild, as cited by Daily Mail, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Evan N’Dicka. The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has caught the attention with his performances in the Bundesliga, with Tottenham Hotspur already interested in his services. It seems the Gunners are now ready to make a move and may even have the upper hand due to their good relationship with the player’s agents.
Evan N’Dicka: One Of Frankfurt’s Rising Stars
Eintracht Frankfurt has been one of the most impressive teams in the Bundesliga this season, constantly improving under Adi Hutter’s leadership. While the likes of Andre Silva, Filip Kostic and Amin Younes have raised many eyebrows in the attacking unit, Evan N’Dicka has been equally impressive in the defensive department.
After initially making a slow start to the campaign due to an injury, the youngster has emerged as a mainstay in the Eintracht backline. His defensive partnership alongside Martin Hinteregger has notably seen the club register seven wins in six Bundesliga matches since the turn of the year.
N’Dicka himself has impressed the onlookers with his aggression and physique. His imposing 1.92m frame indeed makes him an intimidating presence for the opposition, with the defender also being a threat from set-pieces. The 21-year-old has also looked extremely composed in possession, playing a key role in the club’s build-up play from the back.
Should Arsenal Go All Out For N’Dicka?
N’Dicka might not be one of the most gifted footballers in the Bundesliga like Dayot Upamecano and Maxence Lacroix, but at the age of 21, he has shown a lot of promise with his defensive work. He does lack the consistency, and that should be addressed, especially in the fast-paced nature of the Premier League.
At Arsenal, N’Dicka could become an ideal alternative for the likes of Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes. He is technically astute enough to make himself an upgrade over Holding, especially if he can work on his consistency.
It is also fair to point out that the Frankfurt defender can also operate as a left-back if required. It could provide Mikel Arteta with additional tactical options at his disposal next season that could be a necessity, following the January departures of Sead Kolasinac, Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi.
The Gunners may choose to offload Calum Chambers in the summer, so the arrival of N’Dicka, combined with the return of William Saliba could give a new look to the Arsenal defence.
