According to Mirror, Arsenal are among the clubs interested in Manor Solomon. The Shakhtar Donetsk winger has raised a lot of eyebrows with his performances in the Ukrainian Premier League, with the player recently admitting his desire to play in England, during an interview with Sport 5. Arsenal chief Edu is believed to have already held talks with Solomon’s agent, though the club could face stiff competition from league rivals.
Who is Manor Solomon?
A product of the Maccabi Petah Tikva youth academy in his native Israel, Solomon joined Shakhtar in January 2019 as a young prodigy. He did join the first-team instead of the youth clubs, which signified the talent he had possessed and the youngster hasn’t disappointed either.
Solomon made his professional breakthrough at Shakhtar last season before the pandemic halted his progress. This season, however, the Israeli international has become a key member of the first-team, having made ten appearances in the league so far.
He was also quite involved in the club’s Champions League campaign, featuring in all six of the group stage matches. The 21-year-old most notably scored in both legs against Real Madrid, starring in those two incredible wins.
Solomon’s pace, combined with his technical prowess and ability to beat players seems to have caught the eye of the onlookers. Although the attacker could further improve on his overall productivity, he certainly has the potential to become a top player in Europe.
Should Arsenal Go For Solomon?
Arsenal’s investment in Solomon could depend on a lot of factors. The young attacker doesn’t necessarily have too much experience at the highest level of football but has impressed against top-quality opposition like Real Madrid.
As far as gameplay is concerned, the Shakhtar Donetsk winger is certainly capable of settling into Mikel Arteta’s setup, thanks to his pace and technical qualities that could make him a scourge on the counter. He could thus provide competition for the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli while proving to be a decent replacement for the ageing Willian and the underperforming Reiss Nelson.
At the age of 21, Solomon could also be a useful long-term investment for the Gunners. But, a lot could depend on how much Shakhtar Donetsk demand for their star player as Arsenal certainly cannot overspend on a player who has limited experience at the top flight. In general, though, the player does have what it takes to succeed at Emirates if nurtured properly by Arteta.
