Manchester City will lock horns with Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday evening hoping to win and book a place in the next round of the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola’s men are playing the best football in England at the moment, so they will be confident about securing another victory against the Swans in midweek.
The Mancunian outfit will set themselves up in a 4-3-3 formation with Guardiola expected to make a few changes to his first-team for this game. Gabriel Jesus is expected to spearhead the Man City attack at Phil Foden’s expense, who might be rested on the bench.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea City
Defence
Ederson will operate in between the sticks for the visitors after he shipped in one goal versus Liverpool at Anfield in his last outing. Aymeric Laporte could get the nod to function alongside Ruben Dias at the heart of Guardiola’s defence as they try to secure a clean sheet in the FA Cup in midweek.
Kyle Walker was not included in the Man City squad that travelled to Anfield as he was not fully fit. If the English talent can make himself available for this game, he will be a guaranteed starter at right-back while Joao Cancelo fills in on the other flank as a makeshift left-back. They will both get a chance to impress by getting forward and joining in on the attack at every they get on Wednesday.
Oleksandr Zinchenko and John Stones will drop to the bench as they offer some cover for the defensive positions.
Midfield
Guardiola could opt for a midfield three of Ilkay Gundogan, Fernandinho and Bernardo Silva as they focus on establishing their dominance at the centre of the park. Gundogan is currently enjoying the goal-scoring form of his life after bagging a brace versus the Premier League champions last weekend.
Rodri might be offered a rest on the bench as the Man City boss looks to keep his squad fresh for the coming weeks.
Attack
Raheem Sterling could feature as a left-sided wide player while Riyad Mahrez hopes to put on a productive display down the right flank in midweek. Gabriel Jesus will lead the charge for Man City down the middle. He didn’t get a start versus Liverpool, so Guardiola is likely to rely on him to do most of the damage versus the Swans later this week.
Phil Foden and Ferran Torres will be available for selection on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the latter stages if needed.
