Mahrez And Sterling To Start, Jesus On The Bench | 4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup Vs Burnley

Manchester City will lock horns with Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening as they look to earn maximum points on their travels. The Mancunian giants managed to grind out a 1-0 win over Sheffield United, so they will fancy their chances of success versus the Clarets in midweek.

Pep Guardiola will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes to his starting XI for this league encounter away at Lancashire. Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling will probably get the nod to start in this game, but Gabriel Jesus could be rested on the bench despite his match-winning display against the Blades last weekend.

Defence

Ederson will feature in between the sticks for Guardiola’s side after he secured a clean sheet in his last league start. John Stones will once again partner up with Ruben Dias at the centre of the Man City defence as they try to keep Burnley’s Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez quiet during the 90 minutes.

Kyle Walker is expected to keep his place at right-back while Joao Cancelo comes into the side to feature as the left-back. Guardiola will instruct both of them to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack so that Man City generate enough chances to win this contest versus Sean Dyche’s men.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aymeric Laporte will make up the numbers on the bench as they provide cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Ilkay Gundogan, Rodri and Bernardo Silva will play alongside each other in midfield. They will focus on keeping the ball moving and engineering a few clear-cut chances for the front players in the final third. Gundogan scored some important goals for Man City in the month of January, so he will be quietly confident about producing another productive display in midweek.

Fernandinho was heavily involved last weekend, so he will get a rest on the bench but might come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.

Attack

Phil Foden might continue to play as the left-winger while Raheem Sterling gets a chance to impress from the right flank. Riyad Mahrez could get the nod to function as a makeshift centre-forward down the middle.

Gabriel Jesus will be rested on the bench as he awaits his opportunity to influence the game as a second-half substitute if Guardiola decides to call upon his services.
