Arsenal are hoping to continue their excellent form in the Premier League when they play hosts to Manchester United on Saturday. The Gunners have won five of their last six matches in the league so far, and a win this weekend could potentially fire them into the top seven. However, things could be much more challenging against a United side, who are pretty much in the title race despite their shock defeat to bottom club Sheffield United.
Predicted Arsenal Lineup Vs Manchester United
Defence
Despite the congested schedule, it appears unlikely that Mikel Arteta will want to make any unforced changes to the defensive unit that started against Southampton. David Luiz picked up a little knock but played the whole ninety minutes, so he should once again get the nod ahead of Gabriel Magalhaes and start in central defence alongside Rob Holding.
Elsewhere, doubts still linger over the potential involvement of Kieran Tierney. The Scot has missed the last few matches due to a calf injury and will be assessed ahead of this game. Cedric Soares is in line to deputise him once again at left-back while Hector Bellerin is a guaranteed starter on the opposite flank.
Bernd Leno is another player guaranteed to retain his place in the side as he starts ahead of Runar Alex Runarsson and Mathew Ryan in goal.
Midfield
In midfield, there will be a lot of excitement regarding the potential involvement of Martin Odegaard. However, there are growing confusions on whether he would be eligible for the game against Manchester United. Arsenal are yet to provide a definitive update on his situation and it would perhaps be wiser for fans to not expect the Norwegian international making his debut this weekend.
Hence, the in-form Emile Smith Rowe should continue in the number ten position, with additional support from the double-pivot consisting of Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey. The latter picked up a knock against Southampton but should be fit for the weekend.
Attack
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang still remains a major doubt after missing the last couple of matches due to personal reasons. It should once again see Alexandre Lacazette spearheading the Arsenal attack, with Bukayo Saka and Nicolas Pepe looking to provide the creativity from the wider areas of the pitch.
Another exciting option is Gabriel Martinelli while coach Arteta could even deploy Odegaard as a substitute, in case the on-loan Real Madrid playmaker is eligible to feature this weekend.
