West Ham United entertained Burnley at the London Stadium earlier this afternoon hoping to secure a home victory in the Premier League. The Hammers made a bright start to the game and took the lead in the ninth minute courtesy of Michail Antonio’s goal. They defended their slim advantage well and went into the half-time break one goal to the good.
Both sides fought tooth and nail in the second 45 minutes but struggled to break each other down as the contest finished 1-0 in favour of David Moyes’ men.
Let’s take a look at how each West Ham player fared during the clash against the Clarets.
GK: Łukasz Fabiański – 6.5/10
The West Ham goalie made a couple of saves during the game and earned an easy clean sheet at home as he didn’t have too much to do today.
RB: Vladimír Coufal – 7/10
He was defensively solid throughout the 90 minutes and was responsible for engineering one good chance from the right flank.
CB: Craig Dawson – 7/10
Dawson read the danger well and cleared his lines when needed. He will be quite happy for bagging the clean sheet along with all three points this weekend.
CB: Angelo Ogbonna – 8.5/10
The Hammers centre-back was a towering presence inside his half and won a few aerial duels during the game. He snuffed out the danger when needed and even made a couple of important interceptions today.
LB: Aaron Cresswell – 6.5/10
Cresswell worked hard to help his teammates out at the back and was not afraid to put his body on the line to get his team the win. However, he failed to make an impact in the final third.
CM: Tomas Soucek – 7.5/10
Soucek mopped up the danger when called into action and was quite strong with his tackles to earn possession back for his team. Offensively, he didn’t create anything of note.
CM: Declan Rice – 8/10
The English midfield ace showed just how creative he could be by orchestrating some meaningful chances for his teammates in the attacking third. He also made a couple of driving runs with the ball and was not shy of having a shot at goal.
RW: Jarrod Bowen – 7/10
Bowen was a real bundle of energy down the right flank and completed several dangerous dribbles in the Burnley half. However, he ended the game without a goal or an assist to show for his efforts.
CAM: Said Benrahma – 7/10
He had quite a few bright moments in the game and was a constant menace for the Clarets defenders during his time on the field. Benrahma ran out of gas and got subbed off in the second half.
LW: Pablo Fornals – 6.5/10
The Spaniard made some energetic runs without creating any memorable chances from the left-wing.
ST: Michail Antonio – 8/10
Antonio opened the goal-scoring early in the game which ended up deciding the contest. However, he will be slightly disappointed for not killing the game off by scoring another goal.
Substitutes:
CAM: Manuel Lanzini – 5.5/10
He hardly got a foothold in the game.
RW: Andriy Yarmolenko – N/A
Yarmolenko didn’t have enough time to influence the game.
