Arsenal will play hosts to Newcastle United at the Emirates on Tuesday night hoping to pick up a positive result at home. The Magpies will head into the contest on the back of two consecutive defeats, so they’ll be eager to put up an encouraging performance against the Gunners who are sitting just 3 places above them in the points table.
Steve Bruce will opt for a 5-4-1 formation and might make a few tweaks for the clash. Miguel Almiron looks likely to make his way back into the starting XI.
5-4-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal
Defence
Karl Darlow will continue to operate in between the sticks for the visitors. The English shot-stopper failed to keep a clean sheet against the previously-winless Blades; however, he’ll be hoping to turn things around this time.
Steve Bruce is expected to field the defensive trio of Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, and Ciaran Clark at the heart of Magpies’ backline. Their main objective would be to track down and close the potential openings Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette might create.
DeAndre Yedlin is a guaranteed starter at the right-back spot whereas Paul Dummett will fill in on the other flank, as the left-back. Matt Ritchie replaced the latter after picking up an injury against Sheffield United; however, the coach stated that it wasn’t serious.
“I think he’s OK. It’s more a fatigue thing, a cramp thing, than anything too serious.”
Midfield
Sean Longstaff and Issac Hayden are expected to start in the central midfield positions. Miguel Almiron might come in for the suspended Ryan Fraser on the left-flank whereas Matt Ritchie will feature on the other flank, as the right-winger.
Jeff Hendrick and Jacob Murphy will have to settle for a place on the bench but could come on in the second half of the game if needed.
Attack
Callum Wilson will spearhead Steve Bruce’s attack up top. Having bagged 8 goals and 3 assists in 15 league appearances this season, the English striker would be looking forward to making the most out of his chances at the Emirates on Tuesday.
